IKO bearings: precision cores for industrial operation
In the microscopic world of mechanical operation, bearings, as key components, silently support the smooth operation of equipment, and their importance cannot be underestimated. IKO bearings, as a well-known brand in the industry, occupy a pivotal position in the global industrial field with excellent technology, reliable quality, and wide applicability.
Brand Origin and Development Path
IKO is a registered trademark of Thomson Corporation (now Dongsheng Co., Ltd.) in Japan, and its name embodies the profound meaning of "Innovation, Know how&Originality". On February 10, 1950, Japan First Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. was established in Nagoya, Aichi County, with a registered capital of 500000 yen. At first, its main business was to sell bearings and mechanical parts, which was the predecessor of IKO brand. In 1956, the company began to engage in the research and development of needle roller bearings and opened the sales path of needle roller bearings through a business alliance with Japan's Dongsheng Bearing Co., Ltd. In 1959, the Himeji factory located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture was completed, marking IKO's official entry into the production field of needle roller bearings.
Afterwards, IKO continued to grow and develop. In 1963, the company's headquarters moved to Shinbashi, Minato ku, Tokyo. In the same year, the IKO trademark was registered and renamed as Japan Dongsheng Co., Ltd. The company's stock was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Second Division. In 1964, IKO acquired Japan's Dongsheng Bearing Co., Ltd. and established the Kamakura factory in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. In 1967, the company's stock was listed on the second section of the Osaka Stock Exchange. In 1968, the headquarters relocated to a new building in its current location (Takarazuka, Minato ku, Tokyo), and the stock was listed on both the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the first section of the Osaka Stock Exchange. In 1969, IKO reached a four-year business cooperation agreement with SKF, a Swedish company, and established the Gifu Manufacturing Plant in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture (the South Building of Gifu First Factory was completed). After years of development, IKO has gradually grown into the oldest, most comprehensive, and most specialized manufacturer of needle roller bearings in Japan, enjoying a high reputation worldwide.
