Correctly grasping the usage location, usage conditions, and environmental conditions of self-aligning roller bearings in mechanical devices is a prerequisite for selecting suitable self-aligning roller bearings. To achieve this, it is necessary to obtain data and information in the following areas:
(1) Function and Structure of Mechanical Devices
(2) Application parts of self-aligning roller bearings
(3) Load of self-aligning roller bearings (size, direction)
(4) Rotation speed
(5) Vibration and impact
(6) Temperature of self-aligning roller bearings (ambient temperature, temperature rise)
(7) Surrounding atmosphere (corrosive, clean, lubricating)
The rigidity of self-aligning roller bearings
The rigidity of self-aligning roller bearings is determined by the elastic deformation that occurs when they bear loads. Generally, this deformation is very small and can be ignored. However, in some machinery, such as machine tool spindle systems, the static and dynamic stiffness of self-aligning roller bearings have a significant impact on the characteristics of the system. Spherical roller bearings have higher stiffness than ball bearings. Various types of bearings can also improve their rigidity to varying degrees by appropriately pre tightening.
Spherical roller bearings are suitable for withstanding heavy loads
The size of the load is usually the determining factor in choosing the size of the bearing. Roller bearings have a higher load-bearing capacity than ball bearings with the same external dimensions. Ball bearings are usually suitable for light or medium loads, while roller bearings are suitable for withstanding heavy loads.
The load method for pure radial load can be deep groove ball bearings or cylindrical roller bearings. For pure axial loads, thrust ball bearings and thrust cylindrical roller bearings can be used. When there is both radial and axial load (combined load), angular contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings are generally selected. If the radial load is large and the axial load is small, deep groove ball bearings and cylindrical roller bearings with both inner and outer rings having ribs can be used. If there is still significant deformation of the shaft or housing and installation misalignment, self-aligning ball bearings or self-aligning roller bearings can be selected. If the axial load is large and the radial load is small, thrust angular contact ball bearings can be selected. If the four point contact ball bearings also require self-aligning performance, thrust self-aligning roller bearings can be selected.
